These textiles were made of several panels of cotton or linen blends that were embroidered with silk thread.
The process of making a suzani textile is an interesting work as it is devided into several stages.
The very first stage is to create a pattern by drawing in ink on a textile fabric. Then several women in the family would embroider different panels, and after the embroidery was complete , the panels would be sewn together to form the finished cloth.
